The diagnosis was devastating, pure pain, suffering. And call for help. I thought that if you are not able to tell about your hardships, you are confirmed in fear. The uneaseness had led me to have pain crises, to feel not to say: here, I'm sick and everything is over “. This is said by Marianna Corona, the daughter of the well-known mountaineer Mauro Corona, who told herself with an open heart in an interview with Corriere Della Sera in which she spoke without filters about her fight against cancer and her newfound relationship with her father. Four years ago, at the age of 38, he received the diagnosis that no one would ever want to have: colon cancer. Since then he has had to go through two operations and a long course of treatment but now he is fine and has found the strength to bring this experience together in a book. My daughter wrote a book to survive, as Mauro Corona told Corriere Della Sera.

The tumour had created pain inside me. I got out of it slowly, returning to reconsider the body that I felt distant, almost repellent - he confided -. We mountain people brought up with the learning that we must always be hard and strong. Like the mountain. It is an imaginary that hardens. Before the illness, I felt strong. A power that leads to me from this model. Instead, I was weak. I faced the disease on tip-toe - he explained - starting from the base without looking at the top. Never look at it as it slowly arrives my father always told me. The man who proceeded to be the great passion for the outside and inside the sport.

Writing a book, was the last option I wished to do. In the family, there is also who writes. I accepted with many doubts. I thought about giving up. It's not for me. I didn't know how the disease is told. Then creativity is like a leak. It was sufficient for me ... What did my father tell? I have assumed more in these pages than in my whole life. He knew about the book, he asked but I remained unclear - Marianna said -. But since then we've started to really communicate because I've learned to tell him how I'm doing through texting. And he too discussed himself and tells me how he is. Orally, we can't manage emotionality. I am abstaining from this, closed, but he has a dominating personality. Better with texting. The smartphone? He is not capable of doing it .
