When he needed extra capital to expand his business, he turned to a bank for a loan, but he could not meet the bank's required documents and collateral to pledge any valuable assets. Zulfiqar Thawar, a Karachi-based businessman and chairman of the Union of Small and Medium Enterprises, said that if banks do not lend more to private entrepreneurs, there are some problems with the bank's terms and conditions, one of which Also has no business plan.


"Whenever they are asked to help them get a bank loan, I ask people about business plans, which is not the case in most cases," he said.


The trend of low lending to the private sector by banks in Pakistan has come at a time when deposits with Pakistani banks have skyrocketed to 17 by the end of last year. Thousands of billion rupees were exceeded.
